"Mom, you cold?"

So...we've retrained Carson to sleep through the night. After a number of heart-to-heart talks with Carson about staying in his bed all night long, a few nights of sitting outside his door while he falls asleep, and a Good Nite Lite purchase, we're back to restful nights at the Ross house. I thought I'd share a few of the comments we've heard from Carson over these last few weeks of sleep boot camp:

"Mom, you cold? You get a blanket? I have two. You need one?"
(I asked Nate to bring me a blanket while I was sitting outside Carson's room on Wednesday night. I guess the little guy realized I was cold when I covered up. He wanted to share one of his blankets with me. Awwwww!)

"Daddy, the sun-man is up!"
(The Good Nite Lite was recommended to us by my friend, Heather. You can program the night light to illuminate a moon's face at night and a sun's face during appropriate "waking hours." If your kid understands the concept of the "moon" signifying "bed time" and the "sun" signifying "morning," you can pretty much train them to get out of bed at a time that makes everyone happy. Anyway, Carson woke up this morning at 6:10 AM, saw the Sun Man's face lit up and subsequently climbed out of bed. He came to the stairs and notified us that it was, in fact, time to get up!)

"Mommy, that's a good deal."
We negotiated with Carson to leave his door open all night long in lieu of one of us laying in his bed with him while he falls asleep. I think Nate and I got the better end of that deal.

Last Chance

We took advantage of Sunday's sunshine and headed to the park for one final Hoorah! before the freezing-cold weather kicks in. It was still pretty cold, but Carson could have cared less.

Brady rolled over this morning!

And it's legit this time! (I posted that he did this a few months ago, which was clearly a fluke. :)

Good Men

As Carson and I were eating dinner last night, he looked at me and said, "Papa Mo's a good man, Mom." I said, "He sure is, Babe." An hour later, as I was rubbing back before kissing him good night, he turned to me and said, "Daddy's a good man, too."

Carson, you are the sweetest little boy and wise beyond your years, Buddy.

Who forgets the nuggets?!?!

After picking the boys up from day care last night, I decided to head to McDonald's (or Oppy Donald's, as Carson calls it. You know, like "Oppy Donald had a farm. EE-I-EE-I-O.") for dinner. I ordered the usual for Carson - chicken nuggets, apple slices and an apple juice. I picked up a fish sandwich for myself. (Gross, I know.) After waiting in the drive-thru line for over 15 minutes, I finally ordered, paid, grabbed the food and rolled home. (My running commentary from the back said, "We just go through the drive-it, Mom.")

Nearly 45 minutes after having picked up the boys, we were home. And Carson was more than ready to eat. I opened up the Happy Meal box, pulled out his apple slices, reached for the Transformer toy and........saw a napkin in the bottom of the box. WHERE ARE THE FRICKIN' NUGGETS?! WHO THE F' FORGETS THE NUGGETS IN A KID'S HAPPY MEAL?

Needless to say, I threw a few Tyson's frozen nuggets in the microwave and played them off as Oppy's nuggets. Carson ate them, though not before he tested his first Filet-O-Fish.

Let's try this again.

He likes the spoon more than the rice cereal!

We're due.

Well, after 2 years of fabulous sleep (and by fabulous, I mean completely uninterrupted nights once Carson and Brady began sleeping through the night at 8 weeks), the Ross house is now experiencing some "technical difficulties." For the last three nights, Carson has decided to get out of bed multiple times through out the night. Once he's up, he catapults his lovies out of his bed, jumps down, scoops them up, opens his door, walks to the bottom of the stairs and screams with lovies in hand, "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" WTF?!

I think we're in for a treat, boys and girls! : )

The Tickle Monster Returns

Brady's now enjoying a little pre-bath tickle, just like Carson did.

This stuff sucks.

Sweet "B"

I call my boys "sweet pea" frequently. So much so, that Carson sometimes says, "Hey, Sweet Pea." directly to me when he wants something. (Smart kid.) Brady's catching on to Carson's manipulations...the little man smiles at me just about every time I look at him. He may not be able to talk his way out of things like his big brother does, but Brady is well on his way. He's my sweet little
B-man.

(more) Carson-speak

"Uh-oh, SpaghettiOs!"
"Holy Moly, Mom."
"What are you guys doin'? I'm doin' good."
"No way, Jose."
"I want Yucky Charms, Mom."
"Bye, Guys. Have fun today!"
"Mom, that's Chris Daughtry singin'."

Boys

I am surrounded by them, but wouldn't change it for the world. (And notice how each boy has his beverage of choice - beer, a bottle and milk!)

Just Mom

I'm just "mom" now. Excuse me, but how the hell did this happen? I picked Carson up from school last week and he said, "Hi, Mom." Throughout the week I heard:

"I need more milk peez, Mom."
"Good morning, Mom."
"Don't do dat, Mom."
"Wead this to me peez, Mom."
"Mom, hold me."

Sugar Overload: Halloween 2010

Once again, we spent Halloween trick-or-treating with our friends, The Brummonds. Brady was quite the trooper. His cowardly lion costume ended up keeping him pretty warm. Our St. Bernard, on the other hand, didn't need extra layers -- he was a sweaty mess after running from house to house while shoveling handfuls of candy in to his mouth. It was a fun evening, though I'm not sure who was more tired at the end of the night, us or the kids. And please note the reason for my previous post -- crappy Halloween pictures of my rug rats! :(

Digital SLR Camera

I want one. Any suggestions?

Pumpkin Patch

We did take Brady with us to the pumpkin patch, I just didn't take him out of the Bjorn for a photo opp. Sorry, Kiddo!

And guess who was next to him when he did?!

Carson-speak

"Yeah, Carson. I do it!"
"Buckle up, Daddy."
"You hear dat guitar? I hear the guitar, too."
"I eat chicky nuggets, Baa-baa. Chicky nuggets so good."
"We don't go in Coo-Coo's house. No-no, we don't do that."
"The moon too high. I can't weach it. Mommy can't weach it. Daddy can't weach it. Bwardy can't reach it."
"Yummy to Carson's tummy."

I'll try to get some of these on tape. They truly are priceless!
