We went to the mall yesterday to get Carson his first pair of "big boy" shoes. (He is about to move in to the Elephant Room, a.k.a the 1-yr old room, at day care, and apparently the
elephants have a shoe rule.) Anyway, my dad has
very wide feet, and so does Nate's dad. (I happen to have very narrow feet, but that's beside the point.) As luck would have it, Carson has extra wide feet too. That's right - he wears a 5 XW, which means our only shoe options for our tank are New Balance and/or Stride Rite.
Fred Flintstone would be so proud!

We're right there with you with the wide feet! Took Ivie to get sneakers tonight. She's a 9.5 XW. And Macie's latest pair is a 3.5W. So we feel your pain with Stride Rite and New Balance! And no cute girlie shoes, either, b/c they never come in wide widths!!!
Our only options with our 8XW boy is Stride Rite and Crocs. Let me tell you, Crocs have been our best friend! I don't care if people say they aren't great for your feet! Also, ebay has some great options in the XW department for getting barely used or maybe even new shoes that kids outgrew. Paying $40-$50 a pair at this age is just CRAZY!
